Elizabeth & Daniel sleeping bag
Designed for Elizabeth or Daniel (KP 21), this sleeping bag should fit the tiny Berenguer dolls (KP 12) if knitted with 2 mm and 2¼ mm knitting ;needles and with some adjustment for sleeve length
To fit – 5 – 6 inch baby dolls
Materials Approximately 25 grm of 4 ply yarn in main colour and scrap of contrast Pair of 2¼ mm and 2¾ mm knitting needles 3 x small press fasteners 7 x tiny buttons or beads
Abbreviations – All as known by knitters, see other patterns
Beginning at bottom edge With 2¼ mm needles and contrast, cast on 27 sts. Change to 2¾ mm needles and main colour. Starting with a K row, st st 4 rows. With white, K 2 rows. Break off white and cont in blue only and starting with a K row, st st 6 rows. Cast on 12 sts at beg of next 2 rows 51 sts. St st 20 rows straight Next row – Cast on 3 st st beg of row, K1, P1, K to last 2 sts, P1, K1 Next row – K1, P1, K1, P to last 3 sts, K1, P1, P1 Keeping the first and last 3 sts m.st in every row, st st 16 rows straight
Next (dec) row – Work 24 sts, K2 tog 3 times, work to end (51 sts)
Divide for fronts and back
Next row – K1, P1, K10, K2 tog, turn and work on these sts only for now Keeping button border sts correct, cont to dec 1 st at armhole edge in next 2 rows then st st 5 rows straight, ending at front edge 11 sts
Next row – Cast off 3 sts, K2 tog K to end 7 sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge in next 3 rows 4 sts. St st 2 rows and cast off
To shape back – With right side facing, rejoin yarn.
Next row – K2 tog, K 19, K2 tog Dec 1 st at each end of next 2 rows 17 sts St st straight for 11 rows. Cast off 4 sts, at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off remaining sts.
Left front – With right side facing, rejoin yarn, K2 tog, K to last 2 sts, P1, K1 Keeping border sts correct, cont to dec at armhole edge in next 2 rows as first side then work 6 rows straight, ending at front edge
Next row – Cast off first 3 sts, P2 tog, P to end 7 sts. Dec at neck edge in next 3 rows 4 sts, st st 2 rows and cast off in P. Join the 4 st shoulder seams
Sleeves – make 2 With 2¼ mm needles and contrast, cast on 16 sts and K 1 row. Change to 2¾ mm needles and main colour. St st 2 rows then inc 1 st at each end of next and following alt row 20 sts St st 7 rows straight. K2 tog at each end of every row until 8 sts remain. Cast off
Hood. With 2¼ mm needles and blue, cast on 46 sts. Change to white and K 2 rows
Next (dec) row – K2, (K2 tog, K1) to last 2 sts, K2 32 sts. Change to 2 ¾ mm needles and st st 5 rows straight. K2 rows in white. Break off white. St st 4 more rows in blue. Cast off 11 sts at beg of next 2 rows 10 sts. Cont in st st for 12 rows straight. Cast off. Sew up the two back seams to form the bonnet shape
To make up – With right sides tog, sew centre front seam from start of the 12 cast on sts up to button band, overlapping the 3 cast on sts. Fold up bottom edge, pin and backstitch white edge to front of bag, being careful not to catch in the sts of the back part. Join underarm seam of sleeves and then sew them into jacket. Sew 3 tiny press fasteners to inside front border and 3 corresponding beads to front. Sew 4 buttons to the bottom fold up piece(these are just for decoration). Sew on hood matching bottom of hood edges up to inside edge of borders.
